Sometimes, I am watching someone else's life. We round the corner and there I am. I'm surprised to see me there looking rather foolish and laugh in my face. Turning, I see myself again. It is like a mirror has shattered and I'm everywhere I look. And that really isn't a good thing.

Poor Nameless Slob

The difference between the book and movie versions of Breakfast at Tiffany's is more in the line of additions than changes. The narrator is just a poor nameless slob in the book. In the movie he's more fleshed out. He gets a name -- several actually -- he's a kept man with the hots for Holly -- but he's shy. She isn't interested anyway, he's not rich and she wants to be a kept woman -- not a working girl.
